Paul McCollaum was born in 1956 in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany, where his father was posted in the U.S. Army. He grew up moving from post to post until he was 16 years old, when his father retired from the Army to New Mexico. The family moved to Spanish Fork in 1975. Paul served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1975-1977. In 1979, he met and married Emily Young. They started farming in Abraham, Utah in 1980. Paul went to work at the Intermountain Power Plant in 1984 in addition to farming. He and his wife raised seven daughters. He retired from the power plant in March of 2013. He currently farms 300 acres and runs 125 head of cattle.
